About Arita Ware（有田焼）

Arita ware is Japan’s first porcelain, made around Arita in Saga Prefecture. It is known for its beautiful white porcelain base, with classic designs such as Sometsuke (indigo blue) and Akae (colourful red overglaze).

With over 400 years of history since the 17th century, it was shipped from Imari Port and is also known as Imari ware. Arita ware has been loved in Japan and overseas, including in Europe, for centuries.
